About

Amanda Hopkins

My work seeks to connect us with the natural world around us, capturing details of the places we inhabit and dramas we encounter.  I have a lively public art practice and work with architects and landscape designers to create site specific work. I have taught Spatial Practices at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London. Understanding place and collaborating with architects, designers and developers is central to my practice.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

2018-2019 Artist in Residence St Peter and St Paul Church, Shoreham during the building of an extension to the listed building. In the same way the process of building large cathedrals was often documented, I recorded the building process throughout from initial excavations through construction to final fit out. Over 100 drawings were made which then became a large public art work for the new extension.
